Transition and conclusion
This question is from a student in the Coaching Camp

A speech structure that we often used is:
OPEN+3 POINTS +CONCLUSION

We use these 3 points to support our claim in the speech.
Before we even write a single word we should exam these 3 points and arrange them in a logical sequence.

For example, if the speech is about “the city of Taipei”, we may want to high light the 3 must-see places in Taipei: Shi-Lin night market, National palace of Museum, and 101 Tower.

Right away, you can see that the first one is entertainment, the second, culture and the last, business.

Therefore one logical sequence is:
1) National palace of Museum - Culture
2) 101 Tower - Business
3) Shi-Lin night market – Entertainment.

You may have different priority like play before you do anything then night market will be your first point.

Now, the transition is the words that will lead the audience from one place to the next. In the mean time, you give the move some meaning. You are like a tour guide here.

1) National palace of Museum - Culture
The first place you must visit is the National palace of Museum. It is the only place in the world that holds the…

……………..(Point 1- Main Text)

Transition from 1 to 2- Now after seeing the long culture history of China, we can bring our self to the modern business. Let’s go to see the tallest building in the world!

2) 101 Tower – Business

……………..( Point 2- Main Text)

Transition from 2 to3- That is 101 Building- the tallest building in the world. Now, after these two stops, it is time for some entertainment. Next, I will show you the most famous night market in Taipei, the Shi Lin night market!

3) Shi-Lin night market – Entertainment.

Next, about conclusion. This is where you wrap up. If you remember the 3T model - I will Tell you, I Tell you and I have Told you.
This is where you say: I have Told you (…..). In addition, you have the last chance to emphasize the purpose of your speech.

I found a good way to conclude is to repeat the message and then somehow related back to the materials in the OPEN. Please refer to Silver Bullet for example. A completed cycle!
